We help people address the pain, injury, neurological conditions, and other physical challenges that can change how they move and live. Who we are
Physmedi is simply the shortened name of Physical Medicine Institute. Our physicians are physiatrists—medical specialists in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). Physiatry connects a medical diagnosis with real life: movement, independence, work, self-care, family roles, and participation in the activities that matter.
That broad perspective matters. It allows us to consider musculoskeletal, neurological, lymphatic, and pain-related conditions while keeping the individual’s goals at the center. Depending on the clinical need, care may include medical evaluation, diagnostic testing, medication management, targeted procedures, rehabilitation planning, and coordination with other clinicians.
We aim to pair careful medical thinking with a genuinely human experience: listening without assumptions, explaining clearly, and developing an individualized plan around each person’s condition, goals, safety, and daily life.
A whole-person approach: Physmedi is a physician-owned Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation practice focused on nonsurgical, function-focused care. We begin with a whole-person evaluation of how a condition affects movement, function, independence, work, and daily life, then develop an individualized plan. When clinically appropriate, care may include Botox injections for spasticity. We also coordinate with other specialists when a patient’s needs extend beyond our services.
Function is personal
For one person, better function may mean returning to work or sports. For another, it may mean walking more safely, caring for family, dressing independently, sleeping more comfortably, or participating in daily life with fewer limitations. PM&R care starts by understanding both the medical condition and the life it is affecting.
A Physmedi evaluation may consider the history, examination, records, prior testing, goals, safety considerations, and available services before an individualized next step can be determined.
One goal is to help patients pursue appropriate nonsurgical care, with the hope of avoiding surgery when that is safely and clinically possible. Interventional and surgical specialists are important partners when their expertise is appropriate. Our role includes recognizing when that additional evaluation may be needed and helping coordinate the next step.
